The secret to fresh, festive interiors
In New York City, where seasons don’t just arrive, they announce themselves, it always surprises me how many homes stay stuck in one visual mood year-round. As an interior designer, I’ve made it my mission to create spaces that don’t just look beautiful but live beautifully, shifting subtly with the time of year without feeling like a retail display.
Design that breathes with you
When I talk about seasonal transformation, I’m not referring to a stack of holiday-themed throw pillows or a dusting of faux snow. That’s novelty: momentary and surface-level. What I create is movement.
I design homes that feel alive, spaces that respond to rhythm, light, texture and the quiet rituals of daily life.
It’s not just about decorating. It’s about capturing the essence of how your life shifts in spring, summer, fall, and winter; and translating that into visual details that uplift you, ground you and bring beauty to the everyday.
To me, that’s what real luxury is.
The Tribeca apartment that changes with the weather
(A real-life example of quiet transformation)
Take my clients in Tribeca, a well-traveled couple who love to host but didn’t want their apartment to feel staged. They asked me for a space that could evolve with the seasons without becoming a mood board for whatever trend was in vogue that month.
We started with a timeless canvas of soft creams, moss green and brushed brass. In the spring we installed ethereal linen drapes that welcomed in morning light like a gentle breath. In summer I replaced their wool rug with a handwoven hemp one and styled their dining table with wildflowers from their upstate retreat.
Come fall, I introduced ochre velvet cushions and a rust throw from an Israeli artisan they’d never heard of; they’re obsessed now. And by winter the lighting became the hero: low warm glows from folded brass sconces and candlelight flickering across smoky glass.
No massive renovations. Just intentional shifts. Every few months, a new layer of life.
This is not a Pinterest makeover
People often ask how to keep their home feeling fresh. My answer? Don’t follow trends; design around your life.
Think about your daily rhythms, your quiet moments and your celebrations. It’s not just about swapping out décor. It’s about adding meaning through texture, light, and feeling.
The homes I design aren’t frozen in time. They shift and grow, just like the city outside your window.
